The Limassol Carnival is one of the most important events i Cyprus, related to the Dionysian Festivals of the classicalantiquity. It is a joyful and colourful event that attracts both young and old, locals and visitors, making Limassol the carnival centre of Cyprus.
The festivities begin on Shrove Thursday or Tsiknopempti (February 28th) with the entrance of King Carnival in town. Limassol Municipality organizes various events such as open-air parties, children’s parades and serenaders evenings.
Τhe Grand Carnival Parade on Sunday, March 10, is the culmination of the carnival events. It will start at 13.00 from St. Nicholas roundabout and will proceed along Makarios III Avenue.

In Nicosia where I was born and reared, the Carnival was certainly not as popular as it has been for years in Limassol. As a child, I never used to dress up or go to fancy dress parties. Having been to the Carnival in Limassol about 10 years ago, I had so much fun that I decided to dress up for Carnival and go to fancy dress parties in Larnaca! Needless to say I had a great time! But just like in hometown Nicosia, the carnival isn't very popular in Larnaca either, so I haven't been to a fancy dress party since 2008!

Larnaca is a small town of about 75,000 inhabitants situated on the southern coast of the island of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. February in Cyprus

February arrived in Cyprus with a huge grin and gorgeous sunny days. I could almost smell Spring in the cool breeze coming from the sea, flirting with my veranda throughout the weekend and spoiling us with mild temperatures rising to 20 degrees celsius on the coast. But just about as I was starting to consider getting rid of coats, boots and umbrellas, today's stormy weather made me have second thoughts. February in Cyprus is  a moody month. It will drift along lazily with its moods...on a whim. Now it's sunny, now it isn't!  Larnaca Medieval Castle Regardless of its moody attitude, February is one of my most favourite months. Its birthstone is the amethyst which symbolises piety, humility, spiritual wisdom and sincerity. A Special Treat

  Marzano is by far our most favourite Italian restaurant in Larnaca.. We love the cosy, relaxing atmosphere, the excellent food quality and the impeccable service. As we visited on peak hours, we really didn't mind the slight delay. After all, Marzano isn't a fast food restaurant. It's the kind of restaurant where you can sit back, relax and chat to your friends, family or significant other. We ordered Regina Pizza for starters, which was amazing! Thin crust,smoked ham hock, buffalo mozzarella and,black olives with a touch of garlic oil .Delicious! Never mind the calories, just for once!!! I had bistecca di manzo for main course and kindly asked to replace potato puree with chips which was no problem. My husband went for fiillet steak mignon. He is diabetic so he asked if he could have wholemeal pasta instead of rice or puree. And he got it! Our friends went for lasagne pasticciate and rib eye steak.They both loved it.
